It has streamlined most of our tasks and redesigned our company structure and process flow. This is the new age of interconnected world powered by automation, digital assistants and intelligent ecosystems.

Disruptive or otherwise, these systems are characterized by unconstrained development. New developments will give rise to new experiences and new demands, which will force companies to rethink how they do things. HR, of course, should be at the forefront of these changes.

Most companies think that technology is not a necessity. That is where they are wrong. To survive in this day and age, you need to accept and embrace emergent technologies rather than resist it. It’s either you adapt or lose out. The importance of adapting is stressed every so often because the survival of your business depends on your workforce. If your workforce believes that your company is adequately prepared for the challenges under this new normal, they will feel more secure with their jobs and thus perform better. Your staff need to be invested in you as well.

Employee Experience

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most people were required to work from home. Working from home mostly mean flexible hours and of course, off-site access to data. Thus, your employees need real-time access to your data at anytime, anywhere.

There are several forward-thinking companies who have implemented this before the COVID-19 pandemic, and as a result, the transition was smooth and they sailed through the community quarantines, however changing, quite smoothly with very minor disruptions.

HR organizations must opt for systems that are employee-centric and to an extent, customized for your business needs. Employees also need systems that are easy to navigate and understand so as not to waste time too much time on system inductions and orientations.

Recruitment Process and Employee Communication

Have you noticed that most job advertisements are no longer posted in newspapers? Rather, they are posted online, on jobsites or even on social media pages.

The process of applying and receiving applications has been reduced. No more mailing or dropping by headquarters to apply for a job. Now, all you need to do is upload your CV, search for a job you’re interested in and click “Submit”.

Recruiters now rely on keywords to identify and filter traits that are needed for a particular role. Though it has its downside, technology is useful for creating bias-free environments to select the most suitable candidates.

Meanwhile, in the field of employee communications, we have a plethora of communication and collaboration tools to utilize. We have Skype, Teams, and some even use Facebook Messaging. Advanced companies have turned to chatbots. According to Wikipedia, “a chatbot is a software application used to conduct an on-line chat conversation via text or text-to-speech, in lieu of providing direct contact with a live human agent.”

Communication is more coordinated with push messaging system. The office admin or HR manager will merely create one announcement via their system and this system will be pushed across all users. Slightly better than the good old office bulletin boards where they pin announcements for the staff to see.

End-to-End Applications

There are a few applications currently on the market that offer end-to-end HR solutions, one of which is MariaHR. Make sure to subscribe to a robust and secure, complying with global IT standards, so it is highly recommended that you request for a demo.
