Sports Badminton: Yeo Jia Min, Singaporean finished 2nd in Hylo Open 2021 in Germany

Sports Badminton: Yeo Jia Min, Singaporean finished 2nd in Hylo Open 2021 in Germany

Yeo Jia Min placed second after Busanan Ongbamrungphan beat her at the women's singles finals with 21-20 and 21-14 on November 8, 2021, at the Hylo Open in Germany.

Busanan is known for being a good badminton player. She was a Thailand badminton player and ranked as #14 in the world. Today, she is holding onto her first badminton BWF World Tour Super500.

Even with Yeo Jia Min's failure to get into the first place, she was still thankful she reached second place, after all the hardship she has been through. She also beat great players such as Pai Yu Po (Chinese-Taipei world #39), Gregoria, Mariska Junjung (Indonesia's #23), Lianne Tan (Belgium world #38), and Michelle Li (Canada world #11).

On the other hand, Yeo Jia Min won S$12,160 (S$16,400) cheque as her prize and her 7,200 ranking points.

In her post, she congratulates Busanan for winning the competition, thanked God for her achievements in badminton, and to her coach, Loh Kean Yew. She wrote, "Thank you, coach Kelvin, for guiding us every day and also big congratulations to Kean Yew for winning your first super500. You’re awesome!"

"Managed to push through the third week in Europe, but I’m sorry it was not my best performance yesterday. I will recover and go again in Indonesia Open. Thank you to everyone who cheered for us, even though it’s not easy to be competing for so long, I feel very very grateful and motivated receiving your support during this whole week. Lastly, just want to thank God for without Him I won’t be able to stand up strong after every fall . I’ll be back!" she added.

The Things You Must Know About Yeo Jia Min

Yeo Jia Min started his career in badminton in 2015. She joined the Badminton Asia U17 and U15 Junior Championships in Kudos, Indonesia, winning two titles.

In 2017, she participated in the Asian Junior Championship in 2007 and won a bronze medal. Later, she became part of the national team in which she took part in the 2015, 2017, and 2019 Southeast Asian Games (SEAG). The same year, she ranked as World Junior no. 1 in the girls' singles event. In 2018 she competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2020 Summer Olympics in Singapore. Her highest rank was on November 5, 2019, wherein she was #24. Currently, she ranked world $26.
