In a Nutshell: 169 prison inmates have tested positive for Covid-19

On Nov 11, Thu, the Singapore Prison Service (SPS) said that 169 inmates across all prison facilities have tested positive for Covid-19.

In a nutshell:

- 169 inmates in total tested positive for COVID-19
- 116 are from the Institution A1 of Changi Prison Complex
- The others were newly admitted inmates who were infected before entering prison
- 54 supervisees (inmates placed on community-based programmes, and 9 SPS tested positive
- SPS has temporarily placed Institution A1 on lockdown and enhanced the testing regime for staff, inmates, and personnel such as vendors and volunteers entering prisons.
- All face-to-face visits for inmates have been suspended since Oct 4
- Special concession had been granted to inmates on death ro.
- Visits will resume when the situation has stabilised.
