The Labrador Nature Reserve is one of the nature reserves in Singapore that houses a wide variety of plants and birds and allocates 10 hectares of a coastal hill. Based on a report, there were 100 bird species, 15 mangrove species, 42 butterfly species, and four seagrass species. There are also rare plant species within the reserves seen and described as unique, as it has a coastal hill forest and a rocky shore.

Building an ecological and conservation program is vital to protecting these species from extinction or perhaps decreasing their population.

The National Parks Board (NParks) announced on November 7 that made a Forest Restoration Action Plan for the nature reserves until 2030. According to the Nparks, "The Action Plan seeks to strengthen the resilience of our native rainforests by restoring ecological processes and enhancing the biodiversity and ecological connectivity in these areas. This will improve the habitats for native biodiversity."

The restoration includes:
Planting a total of 5,000 trees.
Restoration of the coastal beach forest.
Build a new Keppel coastal trail.

On the other hand, the Keppel Corporation pledged to donate $S1 million to support the development of the Keppel Coastal Trail.

Aside from this, the Keppel also donated $S3 million to the Garden City Funds of NParks. Keppel's donations are added to the funds for the tree planting over five years in all Singapore parks and nature reserves. It means there will be at least 5,000 trees will be planted in Labrador Nature Reserves.

Minister for National Development and Minister-in-charge of Social Services Integration, Desmond Lee said, "I would like to thank Keppel for yet another generous pledge of $1 million, which will go towards creating a new trail for the community to explore and experience the restored coastal forest. This coastal trail will have information boards to allow visitors to learn more about coastal habitats and their resident biodiversity while providing good views of the sea from various vantage points. This supports both our biodiversity conservation efforts and efforts to foster greater appreciation and stewardship of our green spaces."

The Labrador Nature Reserve doesn't only houses flora and fauna but is also a heritage site. There were ancient relics inside the reserve, an old British military base (a fort), relics from World War II, and an old tunnel. It played a significant role in the history of the island way back in the 19th century.
