Date: Sunday, 8 November 2026 (Deepavali). Monday, 9 November is also a public holiday.
If the kids have been glued to screens all week, here is a reason to get them out the door: Glowing Oceans at Science Centre Singapore, in Jurong East.
What is Glowing Oceans?
Science Centre Singapore describes it as Asia's first full-scale living bioluminescence exhibition. Children can walk through bioluminescent water at a lagoon, try interactive touch tables, visit a research-office set and learn about the tiny dinoflagellates that make water glow.
Tickets and prices
Tickets are sold online through the Science Centre ticketing site. Glowing Oceans with Science Centre admission is priced for Singapore citizens and PRs at:
- Peak: adult S$12, child or senior S$10
- Off-peak: S$7 for everyone
Standard (non-resident) peak prices are S$18 for adults and S$14 for children or seniors. The Science Centre also sells a bundle with ONE Ocean, its immersive ocean exhibition, which starts at S$20 off-peak for adults (citizen or PR rate). Which price applies today depends on the Science Centre's peak calendar, so please check the ticket page before you pay.

Heads-up
Weekend and holiday slots can fill up. Booking online beforehand is safer than turning up and hoping.
More to Do Nearby: Malls, Food and Community Events
Malls
Jurong East town is full of family-friendly malls, including JEM, Westgate and IMM (known for outlet shopping). They are a short MRT or bus ride from the Science Centre, so they work well for lunch, a toy shop visit or a rainy-day break after the exhibition.
Food
We did not verify a specific hidden food spot in the west for today, so we are not naming one. A good rule on a holiday weekend: eat before 12pm or after 2pm to avoid the longest queues.
Community events (onePA)
We could not find a family community-club event in the west for today (8 Nov) on onePA. Community clubs such as Taman Jurong CC, Jurong Spring CC and Bukit Batok CC post their programmes on onePA, so it is worth a quick look for same-day activities or upcoming Deepavali celebrations.
