On November 28, Sunday, travelers who arrived in Sydney, Australia, tested positive for the new merged variant of Covid19 named Omicron.

The New South Whales recently identified two other individuals who tested positive for the Omicron, which equals to four cases.

According to the traveler's information during their flight, both are fully vaccinated. They flew from Johannesburg, South Africa, to Changi Airport in Singapore on November 27. They took the Covid19 test in South Africa, and they were negative for the Covid19 virus.

The individuals departed from Singapore Airport at 10 AM and landed in Sydney at 9:20 PM.

After discovering they were positive for the Omicron variant, they are isolated and undergo a fourteen-day quarantine even though they were vaccinated.

Regarding the incident, the Ministry of Health has updated their daily numbers of Covid19 cases and coordinates for the possibility of contact tracing. The authorities found out that the travelers stayed inside the Changi Airport and did not move to several places in Singapore. Yet, 10 out of 13 individuals, including flight staff, were under the 10-Day Stay At Home Notice (SHN) and must undergo PRC-Test inside the facility.

Based on the article published by the World Health Organization, the B 1.1.529 or Omicron is already spreading in the provinces of South Africa. Health workers identified the first recorded case of the variant in Botswana on November 24.

Many were alarmed by the new strain of the virus. Singapore was already recovering, including the economy and the people. The struggles of each individual when the first arrival of the Covid19 globally affected us in a disturbing state.

On the other hand, WHO advises all countries to enhance the surveillance efforts to let the people understand the various variants of the SARS-CoV-2. Each of us should also take preventive measures.
