Online platforms help us to live better lives. In one tap, food and groceries will arrive at the doorstep. Because of the technology today, we are also capable of earning while staying at home. Unfortunately, crimes also exist on these platforms.

People use social media to connect with families, friends, and relatives and even seek jobs. A person can carry a lot of usernames online and offer you a job that doesn't even exist.

Like anybody else, we need money to buy our necessities, and it's sad to discover that instead of earning, you lost money into thin air.

Police personnel has been monitoring the individuals observed to be involved in job and phishing scam. During the islandwide investigation by the police from November 22 until 26, they have arrested thirty-five men and four women for their involvement in the said crime.

Some suspects sold their bank accounts and Singpass credentials, which cost $5,000 and $400.

These accounts are known to be used by criminals to transfer funds without getting traced. On the other hand, some of them offer jobs which were leading to money phishing.

The suspect offers a job to individuals as an applicant. They are then redirected to another platform. On the online platform, they must order items and need to pay with their money. After a few transactions, the amount of the commission will increase, so as the price of the item. But, as soon as the individual asks for cash out, they will block and ignore the messages.

The Singapore Police reminds everyone that they should not entrust their bank accounts, Singpass, and other credentials. If you no longer need your bank accounts, do not sell them. Close your account with the bank and protect yourself from scammers.
