The Grab driver, who has the username, Luqman Sha, uploaded a video of his accident on January 17 in Tiktok. He was having a ride-along on Marina Coastal Drive and crashed in a parked lorry, in which he got bruises, broken teeth, and minor injuries.

Based on the Tiktok video he uploaded on January 17, 2022, he was driving and facing the sunlight. To block the direct sunlight, he tried to shade his eyes. A black van in front of him changed its lane route, and due to the bright light, he couldn't see the road, then crashed into a parked lorry.

The direct sunlight impaired his vision, and he covered it with his hands while moving out from the road. Thankfully, some passerby helped him after he passed out.

The viewers saw how the direct sunlight affected the Grab driver's vision, which explained how the accident happened. The sunlight blocked him from seeing the road in a few seconds, and alarmed after the driver crashed.

The lorry was parked illegally, and commenters in Tiktok said that lorries usually parked on both sides of the road in that area. Government personnel must pay attention to illegal parking for the safety of all drivers.

How does this direct sunlight affect the Grab driver's vision? Direct sunlight can cause short-term blindness or severely damage your eyes due to the ultraviolet rays, similar to other bright lights like welding torches.

According to science.org, ultraviolet rays go into the retina and burn the exposed tissues, which causes short-term blindness. Though it's rare to be blind by a bright sun, it can still cause severe damage to eyesight.

For him, the sunlight blinded his eyes for a few minutes after the collision, but says that he is recovering now. He advises motorcycle drivers to take care on the road and wear a high-quality helmet to protect their heads just in case.
