Acumen Diagnostics produces Polymerase Chain Reaction Test that detects Omicron and Delta variants
A convenient PCR testing kit
If an individual wants to travel to other countries, one of the documents needed is having a negative result of their pre-departure PCR test. As countries now begin to open their borders for long-term and short-term visitors, the demand for the PCR test rises.
Based on the Traffic Statistics in Changi Airport's report, in October, there were 255,000 passengers had arrived. Imagine how many people come in a week in every airport and how many PCR tests they consume.
In November 2021, Omicron was like a third wave of the virus, as the Delta variant was the secondly identified after the SARS-CoV-2 strain. The worst is that Omicron (B 1.1. 526) has recorded 32 mutations.
Even with the excellent range of vaccinated people in Singapore, the virus still exists and mutates. It would be advantageous if any new variant of the Covid19 were detected as early as possible and prevented from possible spread to others.
This month, December 3, Acumen Diagnostics announced that they have PCR Test kits that can detect both Delta and Omicron, which is good news for the government and people in Singapore.
According to Ong Siew Hwa, the founder and CEO of Acumen, they have successfully produced testing kits that could detect both variants. The Acu-Corona 2.0 and Acu-Corona Duplex testing kits can be purchased locally and deployed quicker if needed.
In the previous years, Acumen manufactured different testing kits to identify various infections. Thus, with the help of their apparatus, technology, and hard work, they have reproduced these kits.
The first few Omicron cases in Singapore underwent the on-arrival PCR test in Changi Airport, proving that early detection prevents the spreading. The transmission of Covid19 spread during the first few months was snowballing as it cannot be easily detected, unlike today.
