Mertiger

As it is now known, the Merlion is Singapore’s iconic symbol representing Singapore's beginnings as a fishing village when it was called Temasek. Its head represents Singapore's original name, Singapura, or 'lion city' in Malay. What you might not know is that this name-- Singapura-- is thought to have been given by a prince named Sang Nila Utama while hunting for animals. As the hunt began, a strange creature was spotted-- identified as a lion by his advisor. However, this might not have been the case since there were no records of lions native to Singapore. What he saw might have been a tiger since they were found in the wild of Singapore.

The city has also been known to be quite fond of man-made waterfalls with the first being a waterfall built at Jurong Bird Park in 1971. It dropped from a height of 30 meters and is the tallest waterfall in an aviary to date. Aside from that you can explore a beautiful man-made waterfall at the Cloud Forest, Gardens by the Bay with a 35-meter waterfall being a centerpiece in the conservatory filled with plants from the tropical highlands. Of course, we couldn’t miss the HSBC Rain Vortex at Jewel Changi. It is the world’s tallest indoor waterfall at 40 meters surrounded by retail and a beautiful indoor garden.
